10/11/2011 11:55

I'm gonna agree with Jay's points on the new logo for the upcoming Network. I'll tell you right now. In my book, the design they just made for it does NOT deserve to be part of the next update here on .
10/11/2011 10:53
Just Joe
It definitely looked better than this one IMO.
10/11/2011 10:52
Just Joe
Well I'm pretty sure there were some screenshots of the "new" logo going around the internet last year and it looked like their pre-Attitude era logo but with an "E" instead of the "F". I think it was pretty nice but they didn't use it anyways.
10/11/2011 07:29
EddieJay
I always thought that as well, with added a line to the bottom makin it .
10/11/2011 07:25
OldSkool
When they changed from to in 2002 they did those commercials where a guy trimmed off the 'F' on his bushes that were shaped like the logo. It think it would've been better instead of cutting off the F, they instead they just added another line at the bottom of the F and made it an 'E'. That would've looked better.
10/11/2011 07:23
EddieJay
I just dont care that yet again they will be using a logo that just is WW, and no E, makes no sense, something new and original would've been nice.
10/11/2011 07:23
OldSkool
I think what bugs me about the logo is that it doesn't have the 'E' in it. Every version of the W.W.W.F. and W.W.F. logos had all the letters accounted for. The logo just has 2 WW's. It never looked right to me.
10/11/2011 07:21
OldSkool
I honestly have no opinion one way or the other regarding that new logo. It's just whatever. Maybe because I never liked the current logo to begin with.
10/11/2011 06:27

Did you notice on that almost every week, every main event, is a Tag Team Match?
09/11/2011 19:05
Just Joe
I think the reason there's less talking on SmackDown is that the don't care about the show so much that their creative writers are just too lazy to think of longer promos and they have no other choice but to have longer matches.
09/11/2011 15:21

Longer matches, less talk. Those words should come as a policy in professional wrestling. Not just , but that best go for , too.
09/11/2011 14:42

For me, I like the longer matches with less talking. Don't get me wrong, talking is needed, but they have too much of that on . And I always know as the "longer matches, less talk" show..
09/11/2011 09:30
OldSkool
has definitely been the better show lately. Better matches, less talking. But the problem is nothing on matters. doesn't even do the Rebound on anymore. All the focus of goes on . Vince doesn't put much effot into , which is probably why it's a better show. But in the end if you miss , you're not missing any major developments.

08/11/2011 17:16
OldSkool
The tag match should be good as long as they give it time. That and The Rock are the only things worth looking forward to. Then again The Rock could wrestle a mannequin and it would still be the biggest sell for the show. lol
08/11/2011 17:14
OldSkool
We have a Title match where the babyface challenger, who lost at the last 4 ppvs, backdoored his way into a Title match. Then we have the top heel tag team in the company(theoretically) booked to look like goobers. Show vs Henry in a match we just saw a few weeks ago. I hope they at least add a stipulation to that match.
08/11/2011 17:10
OldSkool
The only reason I'm more hyped than usual for this ppv is because Rock will be there and because I'm going to the show as well. If I wasn't going to the ppv and Rock wasn't gonna be there, this show looks terrible.
08/11/2011 17:09
OldSkool
Why should we care about this Rock & Cena match again?
08/11/2011 17:08
OldSkool
As for the main event, I'm glad Zack is finally getting a push. I can see him winn ing the US Title at since it's in New York(his hometown). What I didn't like is that again they had Cena blow off Miz & Truth like they were jokes. Last week he beat them both by himself. This week they get a fluke pin on him and he laughs it off likes it no big deal.
08/11/2011 17:06
OldSkool
I agree with deadman that Mason Ryan shouldn't be on Orton's team, that should've been Daniel Bryan's spot. But Bryan is 5'11" and 195 lbs, while Ryan is 6'5" and 320 lbs. But yeah, doesn't book based on size, they book based on talent. Isn't that what Vince and HHH said? ;)

As for why Barrett is the team captain over Cody or Christian, I have no idea. Not that it really matters though. It's not like the concept of team managers is what it used to be anyway. In the early days of the team captain would be the one to pick his partners for the ppv. Now the matches are just randomly announced.
08/11/2011 16:59
OldSkool
On the flipside, Morrison finally got a win. Whether or not that goes anywhere, who knows. Maybe he finally re-signed.
08/11/2011 16:58
OldSkool
rfl, yes Morrison vs Dolph was a good match... but again, a Champion loses a non-title match. I don't understand what the fascination is with having Champions constantly lose non-title matches. This is like the 5th time in a row in the last 2 weeks that a Champion lost a non-title match and the guy who beat him most likely(if history is any indication) wont get a title shot.

As for Orton teaming with former foes, that's not the first time it's happened, so I don't get the surprise. About the delays, who REALLY cares about the Michael Cole Challenge anyway. The only hook that it has is JR announcing on if Cole wins, but knowing how treats JR, I can expect anything. And, Brodus Clay, IS NOT making a debut. We saw him (or at least I did) on , , etc.

As for , I see Rock getting pinned in the match. At Rock cost Cena the match against The Miz. At I see Cena getting payback(intentionally or not) by costing Rock the match against(ironically) The Miz. This will add more steam to their Mnia 28 match. They both cost eachother big ppv main event matches.

Vince said in one of the conference calls that Rock will be appearing at several ppvs after . So I would expect Rock to continue to show up on ocassion after the Cena match. When Rock said he would "never leave", this is what he meant. He'll always show up whenever he can. He won't disappear for another 7 years again.

right... I just hope more than anything that super cena doesn't beat Rock cleanly and then go straight back to his corny jokes the following night on and staright back into the title picture... that would without a doubt be the single worst outcome of this storyline. I have no issue with Cena beating Rock providing it potentially leads to a new era in .

Fair point OldSkool, I didn't think my storyline idea was without fault, having said that not everyone is going to agree on what would be a good storyline... having said that I don't think I'll be giving up my day job to become a creative writer anytime soon!!    goes off the air with a shocking moment that sets the stage for the next year in . It also sets up a Rock vs Cena rematch, possibly at . It also gives Rock a legit reason to turn heel. He's tired of the fans booing him and cheering Rock and at you know he's gonna get booed worse than ever before. That's how you turn Cena heel.
05/11/2011 00:04
OldSkool
Miz & Truth would become Cena's lackys to take all the heat for him while Cena remains the top heel. While I do think a Cena heel turn is desperately needed at some point, this isn't the right scenario. The place where Cena needs to turn heel is right after The Rock pins him clean in the main event of . Cena finally snaps and beats the holy hell out of Rock in his home town.
05/11/2011 00:02
OldSkool
Hart, that story you came up with is actually not logical at all. So Cena was working with Miz & Truth all along? So them running in and jumping him and costing him the Title was all "part of their plan"? Nope. Doesn't make sense. Plus if Cena goes heel, he needs a really strong reason to do it. Plus I don't think it would help Miz & Truth become legit main event heels either.
05/11/2011 00:01
Just Joe
Miz & Truth are already too much of a joke to be taken seriously ONCE AGAIN. They used to look like a real threat around & , now they have just lost their momentum after John Cena kicked their asses in less than 5 minutes on and it's absolutely pointless making them look strong again, adding Cena on their side and so on... and so on...
04/11/2011 23:57
Just Joe
Sounds like a Vince Russo type of storyline to me. I'd go with the logical booking - John Cena scores the pin for the win on either Miz or R-Truth, he somehow pisses The Rock off even more (eventually during the match), Rocky hits him with The Rock Bottom & The People's Elbow and that's how the PPV ends. It's predictable but it's logical.

04/11/2011 20:05
HartFoundation5379
The storyline almost writes itself. They could explain that all along Cena, Miz & Truth were working with each other to fool everyone (this could explain why Miz and Truth have been so poorly booked lately and dont look like a genuine threat) plus Cena could say to The Rock and the fans, "screw you Rock for all your insults and screw the fans for booing me even though I'm here week in week out".

recruit to guys to join him and get a decent rub from The Rock to become legit face main eventers? This could so easily be a win-win situation for everyone, including us fans. We know for a fact that The Rock will be around until at least XXVIII and I just hope so much that doesn't blow a great opportunity. However I have a bad feeling that after'Mania we'll be back to Cena in
04/11/2011 19:55
HartFoundation5379
I've just had a thought at what could be such a great storyline with regards to Cena & The Rock. John Cena turns heel on The Rock at and joins with The Miz & R-Truth to finally give The Miz & R-Truth a shot at being genuine, decent threats and main event heels. This way Cena finally gets his long awaited heel turn, Miz and Truth become main event heels not jokes, plus Rock could

Van Dam's kiss of death came later in the year when he accidentally injured HHH's neck with a frog splash during the match at . After that match Van Dam had no chance of being a main eventer again.   Rob Van Dam was being positioned for a main event spot when he came to the in 2001. He headlined several ppvs during the Invasion storyline, but was dropped down to midcard status once Triple H returned and they did that spot at Rumble 2002 where Van Dam beat up everyone in the ring except HHH who quickly pedigreed him and threw him out of the match.

And then he lobbied to have the one on one match with Goldberg pushed back another month so he could be 100% for the match and not injured. Then Goldberg finally won the Title and never got to feud with anyone else during his reign except HHH. He was Champion for less than 3 months and then decided to leave after his 1 year contract expired at Mania 20 because he was tired of the BS.

Goldberg was originally supposed to win the World Title from HHH at Bad Blood 2003, but HHH lobbied to get the math pushed back to because was a bigger show. Then at he had the match changed to an match so as to protect him by having him lose with 5 other guys in the ring. Then he suffered the... ahem... "groin injury" right before that ppv.

Rob Van Dam, Chris Jericho, Booker T, Test, Kane, Jeff Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, Tazz, Goldberg, Randy Orton, and the list goes on and on. Now Jericho and Orton in particular managed to finally break out and become main event stars years later in spite of being held down. But in those early years they were f*cked with big time. Goldberg was already a major star in , but in he got screwed.

That same "non-full time" wrestler also wasn't the one to take the pinfall at the last ppv either. Ironically it was his partner, Punk, who did the job. Very interesting. Also interesting is that this same "non-full time" wrestler's best friend attacked and jackknifed Punk 3 times and cost him the Title twice, yet Punk never got any revenge on him. Amazing how that all works out.
01/11/2011 21:53

I can't see any other explanation for the way they've horrible booked Punk over the last 3 months. Certain people don't want him to get over. That's the only logical explanation for this. I won't name anyone in particular but it was rather strange that Punk who theoretically was the next big thing in lost clean to a non-full time wrestler at and never got his win back. Hmm.

During Rock's promo when he said that Miz and Truth have become the biggest heels in the company and have become bad asses, I just laughed. Miz & Truth were made to look like jokes last night. 01/11/2011 17:04

01/11/2011 17:03
OldSkool
And then Punk gets a Title shot at because he bullied(ironic?) the Champion into giving him a match. Yeah that really gives Punk momentum, doesn't it? Neither does .
01/11/2011 17:01

as baffling last night on so many levels. And honestly, the Muppets weren't even the biggest problem. 's booking last night was horrendous on so many levels.   OldSkool, i'm gonna refer to your comment made about how little cares for the titles. They showed that again on tonight, when Ryder beat US Champ Ziggler in a Non-Title Match, Rhodes & Barrett beat Tag Champs Air Boom in a Non-Title, and Big Show beat Champ Del Rio in a Non-Title Match..

Well, when OldSkool logs back on here we'll read an explanation on that as well as tonight's .

On .com on the results, they are calling non-title matches...title-free matches. I don't really get the point of that.

March 7th 2011, he debuted as alberto del rio's bodyguard, and faced christian as del rio's replacement. That was his 1st major match.

I said in-ring debut which means his 1st major match on TV!

What are you talking about champster? Brodus Clay has been on tv already! Do you forget when he was with alberto del rio? So its his return, not debut.

Not only will Kevin Nash be on board next week's BUT Brodus Clay will make his major league in-ring debut as well.

OK, wrestling fans. Right now on , CM Punk has a tall order as he takes on "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry. Punk's opportunity at the Heavyweight Title at is at stake. Happy Halloween everyone!

I'm ok with ADR v Punk not happening at . As I said the other day I'd prefer that Punk doesn't get anymore Title matches until he wins the Rumble and faces AD at .

There's rumors going around today that may have changed their mind on some of the ppv matches today. Del Rio vs Punk may not happen at afterall and HHH vs Nash may be held off until the ppv.

Plus hopefully we get some more matches announced tonight. The current plans for the ppv include adding a Team Orton vs Team Cody match and a Team Kelly vs Team Beth match.

Plus The Rock will be there in a taped segment, which is fine with me because it's The Rock! Plus he'll be there live in 2 weeks anyway.

I'm actually looking fiorward to tonight. The Muppets are a very polarizing subject. People either really love them or really hate them. There's almost no middle gorund on this. I've always been a big Muppet fan so I'm looking forward to it. Which may sound strange coming from me of all people because under normal circumstances I'd be bitching and complaining like crazy about this. lol

People who continue to bitch about not getting updates should just get lost. I don't care when it's updated, I just love coming to this site talking about wrestling. But like rfl_cardona said, we would just like to have one update each month if it''s possible.. Perhaps at the end of each month or right after a PPV.

Yeah I saw that guy the other day. If you look at the time, he joined the FB page and immediately posted that.

Well, we can hope for one before if tomer has the time. If you wanna see someone being an *** hole about it, go to the facebook group where he says that this site is wasting his time and money! lol

By the way, it's been almost 7 weeks since the last update. I respect any reason for this happening, but I'm always expecting those at least once a month. I hope we get one before .

It's like they put all of their efforts on and the rest is just filler.

Sad and true at the same time. Even the Free For All shows before ppvs were newsworthy. I remember watching those with a whole lot of enthusiasm. Now I still watch the preview show, but it's not the same. I'm a fan of knowing the card in advance.
31/10/2011 06:07
OldSkool
I'm telling you, there's gonna come a day where all they announce are the main events an the entire undercard will be a mystery. Actually this year wasn't that far removed from that idea.
31/10/2011 06:07
OldSkool
Most times, especially over the last 2 years, they'll just throw on a randomly added match during the ppv without any notice.
31/10/2011 06:06
OldSkool
It wasn't until the attitude era was in full swing(1998-1999) that they stopped announcing thefull ppv cards all at once in advance. They would spread out the announcement of matches over the 4 weeks. Now today they announce the main events 2-3 weeks before the ppv and the rest of the card gets announced on .com a few days before the ppv. And that's if we're lucky.
31/10/2011 06:03
OldSkool
Even when they started the In Your House ppvs in 1995 and went monthly, they would still announce the ppv lineup a month in advance. On the night after every ppv they would announce the full card for the very next ppv. There's no reason why they couldn't do that again.
31/10/2011 06:01
OldSkool
One thing I really miss from the late 80's/erly 90's was the old PPV Report segments where Mean Gene would take 5 minutes every week to go over the lineup for whatever ppv was coming upnext. They would run over the entire card. There's no way they could dothat today.
31/10/2011 05:21
Champion
They need to start doing that again. They need to get back to filling up an entire PPV card 1 month ahead of schedule.
31/10/2011 05:06

Well, when I used to have 24/7 on demand, watchin episodes of prime time wrestling, they seemed to know the WHOLE card for over a month before the ppv! That sounds insane in todays !
